My name is Rima Shaaban, and I am studying Chemistry Pre-Dental. I am proud to be a Reaud Honors College (RHC) student at Lamar because it provides me with endless opportunities to grow in my personal and professional life.
To graduate as a Reaud Honors College graduate, I have to act on my studies by participating in a High Impact Educational Practice (HIEP). A HIEP is a big project that honors students are required to conduct outside of class. You choose the path that is best for you! Opportunities to pursue your HIEP include: Study Abroad, Partners in the Parks, internships/co-ops, shadowing, research, Model UN, Stepping Up service leadership, and honors councils.
For my HIEP, I went on a Study Abroad trip to Greece where I took a Human Resources course. Studying abroad was truly an amazing experience. I got to learn about a new culture, visit famous historical landmarks (like the first-ever Olympic Stadium and the Acropolis of Athens), and I spent a week in the beautiful island of Santorini.
Being in the RHC is what made it possible for me to go on this trip. I learned about the Greece trip through the RHC, and they awarded me with a scholarship that helped cover some of the cost.
Shown here is a picture of me and some of the girls I traveled with at the Olympic Stadium!!!
Kind regards,
Rima Shaaban
