As a nonprofit, KVLU 91.3 public radio relies on the support of its listeners, as well as underwriting, grants and support from 91自拍论坛. This holiday season, while tuning in to your favorite NPR specials, you also will have the opportunity to support public radio.
"It's like a pie," said Shannon Harris, KVLU development director. "All of those pieces of fundraising are needed to make it work!"
KVLU hosts two on-air giving campaigns per year, one in the spring and one in the fall, as well as smaller one-day events like Giving Tuesday and soft campaigns like End of Year Giving. Although nonprofit fundraising is a 365 day a year endeavor, there are certain times of the year that "invoke" the spirit of giving. KVLU had a successful Giving Campaign this fall which was a welcomed relief after the pandemic and several recent storms took their toll on the Southeast Texas community.
"Thankfully, we are able to use our airwaves to fundraise and we're so glad we were able to participate in Giving Tuesday. It's a global movement based on the idea of everyone coming together to do good and our listeners really have a giving spirit. Without their support, KVLU would not be able to do what we do," said Harris.
The event served as a kickoff for the End of Year campaign which asks KVLU supporters to consider an additional gift to the station.
"It really is a collection of all these efforts that will make it possible for KVLU to operate successfully in the coming year and continue to provide a unique and diverse schedule of commercial-free programming," said Harris.
