Dr. Brian Craig, dean of the College of Engineering, along with eight faculty members from the College of Engineering, were given a tour of Tellus Operating Group's West Yellow Creek Field in Laurel, MS.
LU’s Center for Midstream Management and Science planned the trip to complement research of Dr. Maryam
Hamidi, assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Hamidi is leading a deep learning-based defect classification project designed to use noise signals from large compressors as a predictive preventive maintenance tool.
"The purpose of the trip was to expose faculty to upstream and midstream operations involving tertiary oil production and CO2 enhanced oil recovery operations with a large gas compression facility,” said Thomas Kalb, Director of the Midstream Center. “I believe that in-person visits to these kinds of operations enhances understanding of the midstream sector, its operations and technological issues faced by operators.”
The Midstream Center, established and funded by the Texas legislature in late 2019, serves as a bridge between 91自拍论坛 and the midstream industry, including all oil and gas transportation, gas processing, terminals and storage. The Midstream Center seeks to identify technological midstream issues and bring LU's knowledge and research capabilities to bear to solve these concerns, enabling companies to reduce cost and enhance revenues and profits.
