Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum will hold a “Back to School Day” on Sat., Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in collaboration with the South East Texas Food Bank.
Each person who brings five packages of school supplies will get free admission and be entered into a drawing
for a gift card.
Families are invited to come eat ice cream, drink root beer and tour the museum. A new worksheet developed to enhance the exploration of the museum will be available for families to have fun together.
The gusher will blow twice at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m., and the gift card will be drawn before the last gusher reenactment.
Masks are required and social distancing rules will be upheld. The day will be a fun day to get out and relax at the museum. Prize winners do not have to be present at the drawing to get their prize and will be notified by email or phone.
Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is a replica of the boomtown that grew up around the Spindletop oil fields in the early 1900s. Located on US 69 at Jimmy Simmons Blvd in Beaumont, the museum is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
