LU’s Brass to perform at distinctive convention
91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳’s Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music Brass Choir will be performing on tour in San Antonio, from Feb. 13-15, as part of the 2020 Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
The group will perform on Feb. 13 from 2-2:30 p.m. Additionally, the brass choir will be guest artists on The Basilica of the Little Flower Concert Series on Feb. 14 from 7-8 p.m.
“The selection of the LU brass choir to perform a showcase concert at the 2020 TMEA Convention is quite an honor,” said Timothy Dueppen, assistant professor of music. “This performance will greatly add to the brass areas exposure at the convention and will further expand 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳’s reach and reputation within San Antonio.”
While at the convention students will have the opportunity to attend multiple clinics and performances by educators from around the U.S. “This will help our students expand their knowledge base for their future music education careers and hone needed musical skills in front of an unfamiliar audience,” said Dueppen.
Dueppen said LU’s music students have worked tirelessly on a great program featuring music from “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves,” “O Magnum Mysterium” and selections from “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
Everyone is invited to the shows:
Feb 13: Showcase Concert - Exhibit Hall Floor, 2-2:30 p.m.
Henry B. González Convention Center, 900 E. Market Street, San Antonio
Feb 14: Spring Showcase Concert, 7-8 p.m.
Little Flower Basilica, 1715 N. Zarzamora St. San Antonio
