Wildfires and Atmospheric Memories (Out of Print)

Wildfires and Atmospheric Memories

by Mimi Ferebee

Ferebee’s lyric poetry communicates through imagery, sound, and a host of subtle poetic techniques. She allows us to see, to hear, to touch the world as she experiences it, yet her focus is not upon herself but on others, on the world around her, on specifics that, through her words, readers can understand to be universal feelings, conditions, puzzlements, joys.

Ferebee has published poetry in numerous journals, including Contemporary World Literature, Decanto Magazine (UK), Both Sides Now, Houston Literary Review, Obsidian: Literature of African Diaspora, Pirene's Fountain, Reverie: Midwest African American Literature, Bewildering Stories and Black Magnolias Literary Journal.

Mimi Ferebee has a passion for hiking that has taken her and her husband Melvin on month-long treks in the USA as well as France, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Canada. On one of her hikes, she came upon a Canadian orphanage, an event that helped lead her into working with a staff of volunteers in writing and publishing literary material for raising funds to help students learn better skills in reading English and composition. The group has helped at-risk youth in ten countries.

A graduate of the College of William and Mary, Ferebee holds degrees in both English (creative writing and literature) and psychology (behavioral and developmental science). She recently retired from a career as a clinical therapist to pursue her passions of literary mission: work, writing, and editing.
