Want to meet new people and interact with students who are just like you? The Reaud Honors College Peer Mentor program is a great way to do that!
My name is Brenna Swanton, and I served two years as the Peer Mentor Chair for the Honors Student Association.
Your first year in college is such a nerve-racking experience. This program is a great way to connect with your peers, ask for advice, and even make some new friends! My role as Peer Mentor Chair is to pair you with someone who has been through the same experiences and has a similar idea of what you are going through as a first-time college student.
If you are thinking of joining the peer mentor program, DO IT!!! This is such a great way to get involved when everything is brand new to you. Our honors mentors volunteer their time and efforts to help you succeed, so don’t be afraid to ask them questions. Every year, we host the Peer Mentor Mixer, where you can meet and get to know your mentor as well as play some fun icebreaker games!
Overall, the peer mentor program is an amazing and beneficial opportunity for first-year Honors students. This summer, when you receive the invitation to request a peer mentor, do not hesitate to sign up. Get a jump start on being a part of all that is offered here at the Honors College!
Hope to see y’all soon!
