A Day at Aquarena is a series of paintings born from my journeys to Aquarena Springs and the enchanting surroundings of San Marcos, Texas. This artwork explores the profound intersection of nature and architecture, offering a glimpse into the evolving allure that emerges when the natural world coexists with human structures.
In the process of crafting these pieces, I immerse myself in the memories of these places, although they have since transformed through the lens of moments, conversations, and emotions that once unfolded there. With the use of vibrant, exaggerated colors, I strive to encapsulate the deep sentiments and experiences these locales have stirred within me. Drawing inspiration from artistic luminaries such as David Hockney and the Fauve movement, I am particularly motivated by their mastery of intense hues and their ability to evoke captivating spatial dimensions. By melding my personal encounters with the rich history of depictions of nature, I aim to create art that conveys my unique experiences in a manner that resonates universally with viewers.
