I. Welcome and Planning of FY24
a. Policy and procedures
Updates on time and effort reporting and teaching loads. The council’s discussion has
reported to the provost. It is an ongoing process to form a consistent standard for lab
hours and large class size.
II. ORSPA Update on Lamar Research Status
a. External funding for FY23 as of October 2023: $7,472,680 for 47 projects.
b. TSUS – Quanta Services (QS) Partnership provide opportunities in the following areas.
i. Job & Internships
ii. Workforce Training & Development
iii. Research & Innovation
Interested faculty members are encouraged to contact ORSPA for details.
III. Business items to come.
a. Grant closeout
i. Create close out procedures for grants and document the process.
b. Export Control
i. Export control training for LU IP and properties to secure information when
traveling internationally will be informed to research faculty.
c. Research integrity policy and procedures
i. Create a process for reviewing and investigating research integrity allegations.
d. Conflict of interest and conflict of commitment
i. Create a process or policy for conflict of interest and conflict of commitment.
IV. Roundtable
Jerry Lin: Research council represent college. Research operations will benefits council
members’ engagement for gathering input at the college level.
