The Parking Advisory Committee is the eyes and ears for all things regarding parking lots and parking on campus.  Committee will be providing recommendations for improvement of parking on campus. Committee will be making decisions on parking violations and policy.

Welcome/Opening Remarks: Dr. Flores

NEW BUSINESS

Parking Department changes:

  • Parking Advisory Committee Chair position passed to Dr. Hector Flores since Dr. Wagner's promotion to COO.
  • Parking Department now works under LUPD.
  • Parking lot map to be created and maintained digitally through Google Map function so that repair status can be logged and updated in a format accessible to all committee members.

Update on signage for parking lots: Signs have all been installed. Two need to be amended:

  • F-3 should not indicate All Permit parking. It is for S&H patients only. K. Miller stated the F-3 sign was scheduled to be corrected 1.13.23.
  • F-6 indicates Visitors Only, but it is all Staff Reserved.
  • Parking lot signage tour on 1/18 for final issue check. This punch-out tour should catch any other signage problems and they can be corrected at one time.

Update on parking lot repairs and maintenance:

  • Awaiting quote on C-3 curbs and striping. S. Douget asked if parking spaces immediately in front of Dauphin can be converted to a fire lane. There is not one near Provost Umphrey Stadium or Dauphin Complex.
  • Potholes in C-1 temporarily filled with aquaphalt until more extensive repairs can be planned.
  • Need to evaluate accessible spots and markings. Planning & Construction will fully evaluate all lots for compliance so a plan can be formulated. D. Brodnax pointed out that G-2 is a particular problem.

OLD BUSINESS

Parking Management Software:

  • Student and other 1-time pay permit fees now posting to Banner accounts automatically.
  • Payroll deducted fees are still being uploaded manually until IT can resolve automation issue.
  • Ticket fees still NOT posting to Banner. Working with IT on the issue.
  • Permit issuance and ticket writing going well
    • 4,341 permits issued for 22-23 year, worth $255,711. K. Quinn requested comparison numbers with previous years.
    • 1,265 tickets issued for 22-23 year, worth $45,910.
    • Ticket appeal rate is 18%, with 46% approved ($3,672).

  • Next meeting will be February 9, 2023 at 10:00 am in the LUPD Conference Room.
