PARKING ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

November 12, 2019

Meeting Opened: 1:30 pm

Welcome and opening remarks: Clayton Harrington   

 

The Parking Advisory Committee will be the eyes and ears for all things regarding parking lots and parking on campus.  Committee will be providing recommendations for improvement of parking on campus. Committee will be making decisions on parking violations and policy. 

 

Welcome new member of the Parking Advisory Committee:

Mr. Noel Perez, Senior Criminal Justice major, is our newest appointed member of the Parking Advisory Committee

OLD BUSINESS:

 

  • Signage: Sign Locations are identified, trying to get information from the project on the signs at Setzer and in the quad so we can match them.

 Meeting with Kate Downing and Katherine Miller report.  Katherine has responded to the Marketing Department with some suggested changesA copy of the new sign design is included.

Two separate surveys have been made to identify the lots targeted for new signage and a map is being developed to indicate exact placement for the signs Map has been completed and is being updated and an electronic copy generated in the near future

 

Plans are to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) with a scope of the work needed to allow work to begin with the summer 2020 work schedule.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

  • Copy of a rewrite of the rules and regs has been sent to everyone in this committee. Please review and comment, this rewrite is bringing the rules up to where they are now.  Comments on Rules and Regulations due by 11/27 so we can get the review going up the chain. 

 

  • Next month will have information to look at regarding parking structure –
    • January there will be drafts of rules and regulations that will fit our parking structure
    • Goals-have both in place to be approved by the BOR in their spring meeting.

 

 

  • Outreach
    • SGA outreach – beginning step of looking at parking structure, will be meeting with the executive team and eventually having a forum.
    • Faculty Senate outreach – Will seek input and meet with executive committee, hopefully will be involved in forum
    • Staff Senate outreach – Will be seeking input and meet with executive committee, hopefully will be involved in forum

 

LOT UPDATES

 

  1. Lot C-4 will be closed for band practice beginning August 15 – November 22, 2019.

 

  1. Lot G-2 striping has been rescheduled during the Thanksgiving Break. G2 must be clear 11/24 at 8:00PM.  Communication was sent to stakeholders and is prepared for release to the community through announcements, and directly to res life students.

 

  1. Lot D-8 - striping has been rescheduled during the Thanksgiving Break. Same as G-2 above

 

There was discussion and an agreement to post a campus announcement pertaining to the Paint Striping fo G2 and D8 during the Thanksgiving holidays

 

 

  1. Lot E-1 Will have space allocated to a contractor working on the Science Auditorium. Work will begin this summer and is scheduled for completion in 12/2019

 

  1. Lot C-3 work on chemistry lab 10/14 start time reserved spaces for contractor parking and layout area on grass.

 

  1. T-6 – Multiple loads of material will be brought into that lot to address a concrete hazard in the ditch, and to level the lot.

 

  1. T-5 – Multiple loads of material brought in to level and repair this lot.

 

 

 

  • Open comments from the committee members. Leslie Perkins reported that several employees had approached him and asked it lot D4 could be made a Faculty/Staff lot instead of it’s current all permit parking lot. He said faculty and staff were having trouble finding parking after leaving he campus for lunch.  The question will be discussed prior to the next update to the campus parking map and
