S cholarships C areer mentoring O utreach and Advisement P rofessional Societies E ngineering Learning Communities
The goal of the SCOPE scholarship program is to recruit and retain Industrial Engineering (IE) and mechanical Engineering (me) students. The program integrates IE and me scholars with services including Scholarships, Career mentoring, Outreach and Advisement, Professional Societies and Engineering Learning Community (SCOPE).
This program targets students from sophomore to senior years and guides them through their degree completion. Specifically, the objectives of this program are:
Increase success of IE and me students through scholarships and the leverage of support services to promote the attainment of their degrees
Improve student performance by providing academic advising, career advising, counseling for employment, resume building and interview skills
Increase student-faculty interaction by providing academic support through supplemental tutoring, faculty/peer monitoring and undergraduate research opportunities
Leverage professional societies and help scholars to pass professional exams
Improve student engagement by forming an engineering learning community
Three cohorts, a total of 36 scholars over 5 years, will be selected to participate in the SCOPE scholarship program. Those selected will receive a maximum of $5,000 per semester, depending on the students' expected family contribution and the amount of the institution’s cost of attendance.
