What Kind of Calculators are Allowed?

You may use any four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator, unless it has features described in the Prohibited Calculators list below.

• Calculators with built-in algebra systems
• Texas Instruments:
  • All model numbers that begin with TI-89 or TI-92 and the TI-Nspire CAS
  • Note: The TI-Nspire (non-CAS) is permitted.
• Hewlett Packard:
  • HP 48GII and all model numbers that begin with HP40G, HP 49G, or HP 50G
• Casio:
  • Algebra fx 2.0, ClassPad 300, and all model numbers that begin with CFX-9970
• Handheld, tablet, or laptop computers, including PDAs
• Electronic writing pads or pen-input devices- Note: The Sharp EL 9600 is permitted.
• Calculators built into cell phones or any other electronic communication devices
• Calculators with a typewrite keypad (letter keys in QWERTY format) - Note: Letter keys not in QWERTY format are permitted.

Testing Schedule 

What to Bring on Test Day

You will need a valid (non-expired) photo ID. Download the full list of acceptable ID's

Examples:

• Driver's license
• State ID
• Passport
• School ID
• Military ID with photo and signature
• Sealed Letter from School Counselor or Principal on School Letterhead

You will need #2 pencils. You may not use a mechanical pencil, or ink pen.

You may bring an approved calculator.

When Can I Retake the Residual ACT?

You may only take ONE Residual ACT in a 60 day period.  Any retakes will be subject to score cancellation and no refund will be given.

Testing Accommodations

To request accommodations for the Residual ACT because of a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act of 1990 including the amendments of 2008, you must:

• Register with the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), submit documentation of your disability, and meet with the director of the ARC at least 1 week before your test date.

The Center for Career and Professional Development and the person requesting accommodations will be notified of any assigned testing accommodations prior to the test date. No accommodations will be granted without documentation of disability being on file with the Accessibility Resource Center.

• Extended Time (Time and One-Half or Double Time)
• Distraction-Reduced Environment
• Sign Language Interpreter
• Reader
