The Lamar MBA with a concentration in financial management helps those working at financial institutions as well as students interested in management roles in other fields.
Students are advantaged by the core MBA curriculum—which overviews broad concepts of accounting, marketing and management—while still getting the specificity of the concentration courses in finance.
The financial management concentration provides you with advanced skills in corporate finance and investments. You'll study how to select different instruments for investments, financing business activities and managing financial risk.
Finance concentration students have the opportunity to work in the Fecel Financial Center. The center has Standard and Poor’s Capital IQ and Research Insight analytical software. The center’s market wall includes a touch screen for monitoring the stock indices such as the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, as well as commodities, precious metals, interest rates and exchange rates.
Students can create watch lists accessible throughout the day and run comparisons to performance on the previous day, five days ago, 30 days ago, a year ago or five years ago. The center facilitates interactive learning for all finance courses.
Graduate students also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Quinnipiac GAME forum, a three-day intensive experience where students learn from industry professionals. Hosted in New York, the heart of the global financial services industry, students have the chance to choose between many relevant breakout sessions and learn more about career opportunities.
In addition to the hybrid on-campus/online program, Lamar offers a 100% online version of the financial management MBA.
